After an argument, the delivery agent hits Shivam with a helmet. Two associates of the accused, also working as delivery agents, punched and kicked Shivam, police sources added.
On January 3, around 1:30 am, a PCR call was made regarding an injured person lying unconscious in a bloody state on the road.
Shivam was taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, where doctors found multiple blood clots (hematomas) and declared him unfit to give a statement, according to PTI.
Meanwhile, the police visited the spot, conducted videography and photography and also seized blood-stained material, which has been sent for forensic examination. The CCTV camera footage from the adjacent control room was also examined.
The deceased’s father said, ‘I kept calling him, I did not get any answerShivam’s father Anil Kant Gupta said his son’s family tried to contact him when he did not return after the party.
“I kept calling him, but there was no answer. After a while, I got a call from the police saying that my son has been admitted to the hospital,” the father told PTI. His father said that when his family reached the hospital, Shivam’s condition was “horrendous”, adding that he was “vomiting blood and was not responding.” “We requested the doctors to refer him to another hospital for better treatment,” he said, adding that the medical teams later suggested immediate transfer for specialized care.
Following this, Shivam was shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on January 4 and underwent surgery the next day, PTI reported.
“After the procedure, we were told that the next 36 to 72 hours would be crucial for recovery,” his father said, adding that Shivam had shown signs of improvement “for some time”.
“We had hope…but, he left us on January 19,” said the father.
