An Air India flight and an IndiGo flight were involved in a minor collision on the ground at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred when Air India flight AI 2732 (Mumbai-Coimbatore) was pushing back for departure just as IndiGo flight 6E 791 (Hyderabad-Mumbai) was taxiing after landing. The report also added that the incident took place while there were passengers on both the planes. No injuries were reported.

According to an Air India spokesperson, all passengers were safely disembarked after the incident.

Flight AI2732 operating from Mumbai to Coimbatore on February 3 was delayed after the aircraft scheduled to operate the service came into contact with another airline’s aircraft while waiting on the taxiway before take-off. The wingtips of the two aircraft made contact, resulting in damage to the wingtip of our aircraft,” Air India said.

“As a precautionary measure, the aircraft has been grounded for further technical checks. All passengers have been safely disembarked, and our ground teams are making alternative arrangements to fly to their destinations at the earliest,” the statement added.

An Indigo Airlines statement also confirmed the incident, adding that the aircraft was undergoing a maintenance inspection.

“In line with established protocols, the relevant authorities were immediately informed and the matter is being investigated. At IndiGo, the safety and security of our customers, crew and aircraft is our highest priority,” an IndiGo spokesperson told HT.

DGCA team at the spotAfter the incident, the Mumbai division of DGCA was informed. Officers are on the scene and investigating the incident.

“While AI2732 was taxiing for departure from C1 towards M4 and taxiing to join IndiGo’s arrival flight B1, the right tips of both the aircraft touched each other. Both the aircraft were taxiing at the time of incident. Both the aircraft returned to the bay for inspection. Mumbai DGCA officials reached out in an official statement.
