YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday said his party will explore all possible avenues, including the Supreme Court and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), to expose alleged lawlessness in the state and violence perpetrated against political opponents of the ruling Telugu Desam Party-led alliance.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy (PTI)Speaking to reporters after speaking to Yogi Ramesh and his family at his residence in Ibrahimpatnam, which witnessed vandalism and arson by TDP cadres last Sunday, Jagan said the ruling coalition was systematically targeting YSRCP leaders who were exposing the misrule of the Chandrababu Naidu government.
“The template of arson and attacks on YSRCP leaders was the same, whether it was against Ambati Rambabu, Yogi Ramesh, or Vidadala Rajni. The TDP mob worked in concert with the police and carried out these attacks,” he claimed.
Jagan alleged that petrol bombs and acid bottles were thrown at Yogi Ramesh’s house when his elderly father was alone at home. “When our party tried to expose Chandrababu Naidu’s lies, the law of jungleraj prevailed in the form of raids on YSRCP leaders’ houses,” he said.
The YSRCP president said his party would launch a massive campaign in all available forums against the incessant attacks on YSRCP leaders who exposed the lies of the government.
“The Naidu government filed 24 cases against Yogi Ramesh, including the fake liquor case involving the defeated TDP candidate, and sent him to jail. When his son became active in politics, the police filed seven cases against him, and even a case was filed against Ramesh’s wife, which speaks of jungle raj prevailing in the state,” Jagan said.
He added that the attacks on YSRCP leaders were made only because they worshiped at the temple, seeking God’s blessings to bestow good will on Naidu. “They were protesting against huge posters and cutouts put up by TDP only to denigrate political opponents on Tirupati ghee adulteration issue,” he said.
Reacting to the YSRCP chief’s comments, TDP parliamentarian K Appala Naidu said Jagan was conducting a politically motivated visit that caused public inconvenience and created an atmosphere of fear.
He alleged that Jagan’s visits to the residences of party leaders and his public engagements were undermining the state government’s efforts to ensure stability and development. “The tone and tenor of his speech seems provocative. He should moderate his speech and behave responsibly,” the MP said.
