Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here on Saturday on a two-day visit where he was received by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Prime Minister Modi will hold wide-ranging talks with the Malaysian Prime Minister on Sunday, which is expected to forge several agreements to further expand cooperation between the two countries.”Landed in Kuala Lumpur. I look forward to our conversation and strengthening the bond of friendship between India and Malaysia,” Modi said in a post on X.

Modi will hold wide-ranging talks with the Malaysian prime minister on Sunday, which is expected to forge several agreements to further expand cooperation between the two countries.

In his exit statement, the Prime Minister indicated that the visit would focus on a major push for deeper defense cooperation and stronger economic engagement between the two countries.

“The historic relationship between India and Malaysia has seen steady progress in recent years. I look forward to my discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and further enhancing our comprehensive strategic partnership,” Modi said.

“We will aim to deepen our defense and security ties, enhance our economic and innovation partnership and expand our cooperation in new domains.”

India and Malaysia upgraded their bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in August 2024.
