The Prime Minister also launched the revised UDAN scheme during the event, which aims to enhance regional air connectivity across the country over the next decade.

The newly opened station was developed at a cost of $480 crore and covers more than 23,000 square metres. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the facility is designed to accommodate up to 20,000 passengers, or 2 million passengers, each year.

The terminal is equipped with modern passenger amenities and infrastructure aimed at providing a smoother and more comfortable travel experience to passengers using the airport.

Besides inaugurating the airport terminal, Modi launched the revised UDAN scheme, the centre’s flagship regional connectivity programme.

Under the revised scheme, savings of approx $Rs 28,840 crore has been allocated over the next 10 years to further enhance regional air connectivity and expand access to air travel in under-served remote areas.

The government said the initiative aims to advance the vision of making air travel accessible to ordinary citizens while improving connectivity across regions.
