Parliament seasonal session 2026 live: The monsoon session of Parliament is set to begin today amid unrest in the Trinamool Congress and a fresh push for demarcation and women’s reservation bills. Ahead of the Parliament session, tensions were already high after the Opposition walked out of the all-party meeting on Sunday over the NDA government’s invitation to the Nationalist Citizens’ Party of India (NCPI), of which the 19 rebel TMC MPs are a part.

As the session begins today, it is expected that several bills will be on the agenda again. There is speculation that the Center may reintroduce the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill that calls for increasing Lok Sabha seats to 850 seats and implementing 33 per cent reservation for women.
The bill was rejected in the April session due to strong opposition opposition to the demarcation aspect.

CJP protest, NEET paper leak heightens tensions
Besides the Parliament session, the Cockroach Janta Party continues its protest at Jantar Mantar, calling for the resignation of Education Minister and main BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan.
The CJP, many of its supporters and other protesters plan to head to the Parliament complex at 9 am today.
Furthermore, activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on hunger strike for more than three weeks, called on the government to listen to the demands of young people. In a new handwritten note, Wangchuk added that if the government met him at Safdarjung Hospital, he would break his fast.

Monsoon Parliament Session 2026 Live: Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav on Sunday said the party will strongly oppose the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, using its “full force” to block the delimitation process in Lok Sabha.
“Why do people in the BJP lack confidence in the democratic system that has been in place for 75 years? Why are they so desperate to bring the delimitation bill? Samajwadi Party workers and Akhilesh Yadav have strongly opposed this bill in the past and they still do today; we will use our full strength to block it. The Women’s Reservation Bill has already been passed. The issue is not really women’s reservation; they simply want to use it to complicate the demarcation process,” he told ANI.
The Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill proposes to increase the number of seats in Lok Sabha to 850 and implement the Nari Shakti Vandhan Adhiniyam Act, 2023, to provide 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies. The bill was defeated after receiving 298 votes in April.
The MP’s statements come amid speculation that the government will return the draft border demarcation law during the monsoon period.
