Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday broke his silence since his son Bandi Sai Bhagirat joined the investigation into the alleged POCSO case registered against him. Describing the last week as one of the most difficult periods for his family, the BJP leader said they faced enormous emotional stress but remained confident that the truth would emerge through the legal process.

In a detailed post on X, Kumar described how the developments surrounding the case have deeply affected his family members. He stated that the stress he had been exposed to in the past few days also affected his mother’s health, and said that she had suffered a heart attack during this period.

The Minister said: “Over the past week, my family has been going through one of the most difficult emotional phases of our lives. There have been moments of pain, anxiety, helplessness and deep emotional stress. The situation has affected my entire family deeply. My mother suffered a cardiac arrest during this difficult phase, which was extremely painful. But in these difficult times, the immense love and support offered by thousands of people across the country has given me the strength to stand firm…”.

“There is no error on our part”

Kumar strongly defended his family, stressing that they would fully cooperate with the judicial process. He said they have full confidence in the courts and insisted that no wrongdoing had been committed.

“…I want to reassure everyone who is congratulating and supporting Wakarkarta that there has been no wrongdoing on our part. We have full confidence in the legal process and the truth will ultimately prevail. At the same time, I request everyone to understand that this is a personal family matter and we will continue to fight it legally with full faith in the judiciary and the justice system. I humbly request all BJP members and supporters not to get emotionally distracted. Please continue to strengthen the BJP in Telangana. Continue your hard work for the party,” he continued. The BJP leader also urged party workers not to let the controversy affect the organizational work in Telangana, terming the matter as personal and legal in nature.

The son was sent to judicial custody

Bandi Sai Bhageerath has been remanded in judicial custody till May 29 in connection with investigation under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

According to his counsel, Advocate Karunasagar, Bhagirath surrendered before the police around 8:15 pm along with a legal team including senior advocate Anthony Reddy. The police then began the usual investigation procedures.

Karunasagar said his client cooperated fully during interrogation and expressed confidence that Bhagirath will eventually be cleared of all allegations as legal proceedings continue.
