Compressed natural gas (CNG) is once again becoming more expensive in Delhi, with prices rising by $1 per kg on Sunday – the second rise in just two days. The successive revisions are likely to impact daily commuters, especially those who rely on CNG-powered cars, taxis and private vehicles across the National Capital Region.
After the recent hike, the cost of CNG in the national capital will now rise $80.09 per kg, up from $79.09 per kilogram.
The new increase comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to conserve fuel amid the ongoing West Asia crisis and a blockade on the main sea route, the Strait of Hormuz.

Will car journeys and taxis become expensive in Delhi?
In a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Auto-rickshaw Association and the Delhi Pradesh Taxi Association said the fare revision will help reduce financial pressures on drivers and prevent disputes with passengers over charges.
The unions demanded an increase in the minimum fare for the first 1.5 kilometers $30 l $50, while the fare per kilometer should be raised from $11 l $15.
They also asked for a parking fee $1 per minute and additional baggage fees $25. However, they said the current night fare system, which allows a 25% surcharge between 11pm and 5am, should continue unchanged.
