In his speech during his foundation’s first anti-drug conference, Annamalai said he is a proud patriot, Indian and Hindu, but added that he “locks” his caste and religion inside his house when he goes out, PTI reported.

He further said that a “true Hindu” treats everyone equally and does not speak in a way that portrays one as high and the other as low. “He will say that everyone should walk together in a straight line,” Annamalai said. The ‘We Leaders’ conference, Annamalai Foundation, was organized as part of the ‘Drug Free Tamil Nadu’ campaign and was titled ‘Drug Free Pollachi Awareness Conference’.

This is the first major conference organized by We Leaders after Annamalai launched the organisation. He quit the BJP last month and announced his plans to launch his own political party. After his resignation, Annamalai announced a new political movement that would later evolve into a party that would contest the next Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, scheduled to be held in five years.

He reiterated this in his speech in Pollachi, saying that “We the Leaders” are on the verge of becoming a political party. Annamalai said the transfer would take place at the right time.

“Young people will change the system in 2031”

In his speech on Sunday, Annamalai said people under the age of 39 played an important role in bringing about regime change in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, which saw actor-turned-politician Vijay’s TVK win the first-ever Assembly elections.

Annamalai said that in the 2031 Assembly elections as well, the youth will bring “a very big change in the system,” according to PTI. During his speech in Pollachi, he said that he had not invited anyone to join the “We Leaders” movement.

“I’m one of you in ‘We Are the Leaders’.” “We should plan to plant 50,000 trees in the next six months,” he said, according to news agency ANI. Regarding the movement, Annamalai said 17 per cent women are associated with it. “14% of them are between 18 and 25 years old. 54% of them are under 35 years old. There will be a big change in the 2031 elections. Generation Z made a change in the 2026 elections, and they will make another change in 2031 as well,” he said.
