Doval participated in the meeting hosted by Sergei Shoigu on May 28, according to an official statement.

The forum focused on “the challenges and threats facing international security in light of the emergence of a multipolar world.”

Addressing the gathering, Doval said responsible countries must make clear choices about whether they support sponsors of terrorism or confront them with decisive action.

“There can be no double standards in the fight against terrorism,” the NSA said, stressing the need for a unified global response to terrorist threats.

Duval also stressed the need for urgent reforms in global institutions and structures established after World War II in 1945, saying they must be made more effective in meeting current international security challenges.

He said reforms must ensure greater representation of countries in the Global South and integrate their views into global decision-making processes.

Highlighting the situation in West Asia, Duval said that ensuring safe and uninterrupted trade movement through major international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, is essential.

The NSA is also expected to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the forum on May 28-29.
