Bharatiya Janata Party national president Nitin Naveen on Tuesday urged party leaders and workers to put up a strong fight in every election in Telangana – from the upcoming municipal polls to the general elections in another three years.

BJP National President Nitin Naveen is being welcomed in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, Telangana BJP President N. Ramachandra Rao and other BJP leaders were also present. (@nitin naveen x)Addressing the Palamuru BJP victory resolution conference in Mahabubnagar ahead of municipal elections, Naveen said BJP’s vote share in Telangana is increasing every election and party workers should try to achieve 50% vote share in each booth during municipal elections.

He urged BJP workers to reach out door to door, garner support and promote young leadership. “From local body elections to Parliament, BJP workers have to work with determination to protect Telangana and solve public problems,” he said.

The BJP president launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Telangana, accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of following “politics of extreme appeasement” and failing to protect Hindu religious institutions and cultural heritage.

Naveen alleged that the Congress government had crossed all limits of “vote-bank politics” by promoting divisive slogans and disrespecting Telugu culture and traditional religion.

Referring to the chief minister’s slogan that “Congress means Muslims and Muslims mean Congress”, the BJP president said the Congress was trying to appease a section of the society through dangerous appeasement politics.

The BJP leader alleged that the state government was trying to strengthen the Wakf Boards for political gains, while siphoning off funds for SC, ST welfare schemes. “Time has come for the people of Telangana to give a befitting reply to the Congress,” he said.

Naveen expressed concern over what he described as repeated attacks on Hindu temples and encroachment of temple land in the state. “Even when temples are openly attacked, the government remains silent. We will not tolerate attacks on orthodox religion,” he asserted.

Naveen accused both the previous BRS government and the current Congress regime of continuing “commission-based governance” and land mafia activities. He claimed that contractors are being forced to pay “RR tax” for development work and bill clearance.

“This corrupt system must be uprooted,” he said, calling for a BJP victory to ensure justice for all sections.

Meanwhile, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC B Mahesh Kumar Gaur on Tuesday said that the BJP national president’s visit is part of the party’s strategy to sway municipal elections by inciting voters in the name of religion.

“But the BJP is likely to get “zero results” in the upcoming municipal elections in the state,” he said and warned the people of Telangana to be cautious, claiming that the BJP would try to create communal polarization during the elections.

Mahesh Kumar Gowda questioned the BJP’s contribution in Telangana, which has eight BJP MPs and two Union ministers. He demanded that the BJP leadership explain how much the Center has allocated to Telangana in the Union Budget.

The TPCC chief also alleged that BJP MPs had won the previous parliamentary elections by exploiting incidents like the Vainsa communal riots to “steal votes” and secure votes.

He emphasized that the Congress party seeks votes on the basis of development and welfare, unlike the BJP, which, he claimed, thrives on divisive politics.
