A second set of election promises announced by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections included interest-free loans for Muslim and Christian women, increase in social security pension and education loan waiver.
Ahead of TN assembly elections, EPS announced 2nd set of promisesThe Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly has announced a hike from the Social Security Pension ₹1,200 onwards ₹2,000, education loan waiver for students, three LPG gas cylinders per year to ration card holders. He also offered to compensate Jallikattu bulls ₹10 lakhs in case of death and ₹2 lakhs for the injured. He proposed interest-free loans for Muslim and ethnic women and minority communities and loan waivers from cooperative banks by disabled persons.
“No elderly person in Tamil Nadu should struggle to survive. No widow or differently abled person should be forced to live a life of dishonor. Education must empower, not enslave our youth to debt. Our students deserve opportunities, not lifelong financial problems,” AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NNDA) chief ministerial candidate Palaniswami said at the conference on Wednesday.
In the first phase on January 17, he announced a set of five election promises to mark the birth anniversary of AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran. It included promises to increase monthly allowances for women ₹1,000 to ₹ 2,000 and free travel for men in city buses.
“These promises are not election drama,” the former chief minister said on Wednesday. “When AIADMK ruled Tamil Nadu, together we gave stability, welfare and growth. In 2026, we seek a renewed mandate to restore and protect accountable governance to every family in this state.”
