The youth-focused initiative titled ‘Frames of Justice’, NALSA Youth and Short Film Competition 2026, was launched on February 13, to commemorate National Women’s Day and Sarojini Naidu’s birth anniversary, under the leadership of Supreme Court Justice and NALSA CEO Vikram Nath.

The competition is designed as a contemporary legal awareness program as part of NALSA’s legal mandate to promote legal literacy and ensure access to justice, especially for the weaker and marginalized sections of society.

The initiative also stressed the need to enhance public awareness regarding legal aid mechanisms and institutional support systems.

It also reflects the recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice which calls for innovative, mass-oriented and digital outreach strategies.

Recognizing the growing impact of short digital storytelling, NALSA said the competition seeks to harness the creativity and digital fluency of law students to create contextual, regional, rights-based awareness content around its schemes and access to justice issues more broadly.

The competition is open to undergraduate and postgraduate law students across India, and participants can submit one entry either in the form of a vertical or reel video of up to 90 seconds or a short film or explainer video of up to three minutes.

Entries must be routed through the institutional application mechanism, from law schools to district legal services authorities, then to state legal services authorities, and finally to NALSA. Submissions that do not adhere to this specific hierarchy will be disqualified.

NALSA stipulated that entries in regional languages must carry closed captions or translations in English or Hindi. A three-tier evaluation mechanism has been put in place to ensure fairness, quality and national representation.

Regional winners and runners-up in each category will receive prizes and certificates of appreciation, NALSA said in a press release issued on Sunday.

The winners will be felicitated by dignitaries at an official event organized by NALSA. Selected entries can also be disseminated through the official digital platforms of NALSA and other legal services organizations to promote legal awareness.

The competition will accept applications between February and April 2026, followed by evaluation at the national level. The date of the congratulation ceremony will be announced separately.

Through the “Justice Frameworks”, NALSA said it aims to enhance access to justice through youth-led and technology-enabled initiatives while deepening engagement with the next generation of legal professionals.
