Scotland made history on Saturday by registering their first ever win in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, beating Ireland by 40 runs at Old Trafford.

Amy Hunter (39) and Orla Prendergast (33) were the only batsmen to make notable contributions, but Ireland were never able to build enough momentum.The game turned strongly in Scotland’s favor in the 13th minute when Kirsty Gordon picked up three wickets. She fired Rebecca Stockel, Leah Ball, and Alice Tector at the same time.
Catherine Fraser also played a key role with figures of 3/19 as Scotland started their 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign with a win.Katherine Price was named Player of the Match for her innings of 60 and figures of 2 to 19.
