Judicial Magistrate First Class Anodita Gupta has scheduled a hearing on Wednesday to examine the police diaries, which were submitted on Tuesday, said advocate Ankur Pandey, who was representing the victim’s family. In their plea, the victim’s family pointed out flaws in the investigation, saying the FIR was registered three days after she was found dead, Pandey told PTI.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Kashyap Kaul, earlier in the day, said that the belt report confirmed that she died by suicide using a belt.

He said that the forensic examination of the victim showed that she died of suffocation due to being hung from a belt as a gallows.

“Six teams are working to nab her husband. The AIIMS doctor has confirmed that other injury marks on her body are general in nature and not related to the cause of death,” he added.

But the woman’s family accused the police of mishandling the investigation. “The delay in sending the belt for forensic analysis in itself showed a conspiracy. Why did they hand the belt over for forensic examination two days after the crime?” Her father asked.

The victim’s family also raised doubts over the report, alleging that the victim’s mother-in-law’s sister is a Bhopal-based surgeon and could influence the second autopsy, if it is conducted at the city hospital.

The victim’s father has also filed an urgent complaint with AIIMS Bhopal, requesting that her mortal remains and forensic evidence be preserved for a second post-mortem examination at AIIMS in New Delhi.
