A possible overdose of a ‘sex-enhancing’ drug led to the death of a 29-year-old man in Haryana’s Gurugram district, police said on Friday, adding that wrappers of the nutritional supplements were recovered from his room.

The man, a native of Nagpur, was working at the Delhi office of the Quality Council of India in a rented apartment in Sector 53 in neighboring Gurugram, news agency PTI quoted police as saying.

The incident came to light on Thursday morning when the deceased co-worker reported it to the police. The person said that the two often went to the office together, but that day his colleague was not answering his phone or opening his room door.

After receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and broke down the door, where they found the man dead on the bed.

Police said that packaging of some medicines and health supplements were recovered from the room. The police handed the body over to the family after an autopsy.

What the initial investigation revealed

A senior investigation officer said that preliminary investigations revealed that the man had invited his fiancée to meet him, but that he had died before that.

Police suspect he took an aphrodisiac drug, an overdose of which may have led to a heart attack.

“We have sent the recovered viscera and medicines to FSL for testing. The exact cause of death will be revealed only after receiving the viscera report. We are investigating all aspects,” the agency quoted Sector 53 SHO Satender Rawal as saying.

In a separate incident, authorities earlier this week unearthed a scam involving the manufacture and sale of “fake” Monjaro (Terzepatide) injections and arrested two people in Gurugram in this connection.

The agency quoted Narcotics Control Officer Amandeep Chauhan as saying on Monday that a nationwide alert has been issued to detect fake injections and an investigation is underway to unravel the entire network, including all those involved in this extortion.

He said that a team from the Health Ministry raided a residential society in Sector 62 on Monday and arrested two people, including the main accused.

The accused were importing crude medicines from China and manufacturing fake Monjaro injections. The entire racket was operated out of an apartment in the community. The officer alleged that the accused provided these illegal injections through the B2B Indiamart portal.
