Two traders have been arrested in two separate cases in Maharashtra’s Dhule district on charges of stocking and selling beauty products made in Pakistan, the import of which is banned in India, an official said on Saturday.

Two FIRs were registered on Friday after the crime branch raided two locations and seized personal care products ‘made in Pakistan’, including whitening creams, soaps, serums and beauty packs worth $The official said: 61 thousand.

The police said that accused Kailash Devanand Nankani (50) and Fazlu Rehman Saleem Ansari (32) have been detained under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Cosmetics Act, on charges of dealing in prohibited goods and cheating customers. Officials suspect that an Imdad network may be involved in the distribution of banned cosmetics made in Pakistan. Nearly a week ago, police in Chhatrapati Sambaginagar arrested three traders who were stocking and selling products made in the neighboring state.

The latest cases were registered at Chalisgaon Road and Dhule City police stations. The official added that police are investigating the supply chain to determine how the banned items reached Dhule.

Following the Pahalgam terror attack in May 2025, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade imposed a ban on all direct and indirect imports of goods coming from or exporting from Pakistan.
