When will the monsoon reach Delhi? | The most important points
Rain in Delhi until July 7: Between July 3 and 7, Delhi is likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by rain every day. During this period, the minimum temperature is expected to remain between 23°C and 24°C, while the maximum temperature is likely to range between 33°C and 35°C.
Monsoon around July 3 or 4: The monsoon is likely to reach Delhi and adjoining areas around July 3 or 4, Mahesh Palawat, Vice President, Skymet Weather, told news agency PTI.
Last seen 5 years ago: The arrival will mark the latest onset of monsoon over the national capital in five years, the IMD said.
Late monsoon in 2021: According to IMD, the southwest monsoon reached Delhi on June 25, 2020, a day before it covered the entire country on June 26. In 2021, the monsoon arrived very late, reaching Delhi on July 13, the same day it covered the entire country.
Conditions are favorable: The southwest monsoon has reportedly advanced across several parts of northern and western India. Conditions are now favorable for the monsoon to advance into Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi in the next 24 hours, according to the Meteorological Department.
Weather forecast for Thursday: IMD expects skies to be generally cloudy with moderate rain for Thursday, July 2. The maximum temperature will remain at 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 24 degrees Celsius.

Live weather and rain updates: Heavy monsoon rains caused widespread disruption in several parts of India on Wednesday, claiming four lives in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, as landslides, waterlogging and disruption of transport affected normal life.
Arunachal Pradesh continued its efforts to combat the effects of flash floods, while new spells of rain hit parts of Maharashtra.
The India Meteorological Department has also forecast heavy rains in south Bengal in the coming days.
In Navi Mumbai, two girls had a narrow escape after receiving an electric shock from an exposed live wire on a waterlogged road near the LP bridge in Nerul.
Meanwhile, the rains brought a much-needed respite from the sweltering heat in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh after days of scorching conditions.
The southwest monsoon also advanced across most parts of Uttarakhand, expanding its coverage across northern India.

1. Four killed in rain-related incidents – Three members of a family, including two girls, died in a rain-triggered landslide in Mangaluru in Karnataka, while a woman was killed after hitting a rock in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
2. Himachal faces landslides and road closures – Heavy rains have caused landslides, flood-like conditions, power outages and closure of many roads across the state. IMD has issued orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall from 2 to 6 July (except 4 July).
3. Maharashtra receives heavy rains – Heavy rains have inundated parts of Thane, Palghar and Mumbai Metropolitan Region, causing severe waterlogging. A red alert has been issued for Palghar district, with schools and colleges closed on Thursday.

Live weather and rain updates: Parts of the national capital received rainfall on Thursday and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert.
The monsoon is expected to enter Delhi around July 3 or 4, according to the Meteorological Department. Meanwhile, a rainfall alert has been issued for Delhi till July 7.
The maximum temperature in Delhi in July will settle at 33 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature will hover around 24 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD weekly forecast.
Palawat said it is expected to intensify Rain activity over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and northern Rajasthan by July 2nd or 3rd, and monsoon is expected to reach Delhi around July 3rd or 4th.
“The monsoon generally advances along the monsoon trough, which currently extends from Punjab to the Bay of Bengal. The easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal are expected to reach Delhi around July 3 or 4 with the trough. Until then, the city is likely to receive only isolated periods of rain. Once these easterly winds blow and the trough becomes more favourable, monsoon activity will pick up significantly,” he told news agency PTI.
A new Western Disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from July 2, which is expected to enhance rainfall activity across the region, Shivinder Singh, scientist at IMD, told HT.
