Delhi Traffic Police issued a comprehensive traffic advisory on Thursday regarding the temporary closure of Khanda Chowk flyover in Chander Vihar area of ​​Nangloi district.

She added that the closure, which will come into effect from March 26, 2026, is necessitated by essential repair and resurfacing works being carried out by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department.

Road closure details, duration

The Khanda Chowk bridge, located over the drain, will remain closed for seven days, that is, until next Thursday, April 2.

This is intended to facilitate the necessary structural improvements to the bridge deck and ensure long-term safety for passengers.

To manage the resulting impact on local traffic, Delhi Traffic Police has implemented specific arrangements to maintain smooth flow of vehicles and reduce congestion in Nangloi area.

Traffic diversions and alternative routes

Passengers are strongly advised to plan their trips in advance and use the following alternative routes identified by the authorities, the advisory said.

  • From Nilothi to Vikas Puri: Motorists coming from Nilothi are advised to take an alternative route via Mahadev Chowk. From there, they should proceed towards Macchi Market/DAV Public School, Vikas Puri to reach their final destinations.
  • Machi Market, Vikas Puri towards Nilothi/Chandar Vihar: Traffic in the opposite direction is likewise advised to divert via Mahadev Chowk. Passengers must follow the road towards Chander Vihar or Nilothi to bypass the closed bridge.

The police also asked all motorists to be patient and strictly adhere to traffic rules and cooperate with individuals deployed at various intersections to ensure effective traffic management.
