Several Indian workers were among 7 people who died in Dubai after a minibus collided with a stationary truck on Emirates Road on Monday.

Dubai Police said that the preliminary investigation revealed that the truck stopped in the middle of the road due to a technical problem, while the minibus collided with it from behind because the driver failed to maintain a safe distance.

The Indian Embassy in Dubai confirmed the death of the Indian workers, and said that many Indian workers were killed and many others were injured in the tragic road accident. But the exact number of victims is not yet known.
“Our officials visited the hospital, met the injured Indians, and are working closely with the local authorities to provide all possible assistance and support,” the embassy said in a post on the X website. “Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with the bereaved families during this difficult time.”
Brigadier Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Traffic Department at Dubai Police, said that five of the nine injured were seriously injured, while the four were moderately injured and were receiving treatment in a hospital.

Pictures of the accident published by Dubai authorities showed the bus mangled after the impact of the collision.
Following the accident, Brigadier General Jumaa described stopping in the middle of the road as one of the most serious violations that could lead to serious accidents, deaths and serious injuries.

He added, “Initial investigations indicate that the truck suddenly stopped in the middle of the road due to a technical defect. The bus driver collided with the truck from behind due to his failure to pay attention and maintain a safe distance. The accident led to the death of seven people and nine injuries, including five serious injuries and four moderate injuries. All the injured were transferred to the hospital to receive treatment.”
Stopping in the middle of the road carries a fine of 1,000 dirhams and six traffic points, in addition to a fine of 500 dirhams for obstructing traffic under Article 98, Dubai Police said.
