Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday that the Center aims to raise the role of the private sector in defense production to 50 per cent.

He said India is expected to become the largest arms exporter in 25 to 30 years.
The Union Minister was speaking after inaugurating an ammunition manufacturing unit in Shirdi, Maharashtra.
“India was considered an arms importer and no power can now stop it from being the largest exporter in 25-30 years,” Singh said, adding, “Everyone must work together to make India a hub for munitions and automation.”
He said that when the government’s vision is aligned with private sector innovations, the country reaches new heights, PTI reported.
He added: “The private sector is not only a supplier of defense equipment, but also a producer of modern weapons systems.”
