Raveena Tandon has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann after the state government initiated action on stray dogs under a Supreme Court order. The actor asked the Punjab government to handle the issue with compassion while also addressing public safety.
Her plea came after the state said stray dogs would be removed from public places where they are frequented, shelters would be established, and legally permissible steps would be taken in cases involving rabid, incurably sick or dangerous dogs.

According to Hindustan Times, Raveena shared a note on Instagram and addressed the Punjab Chief Minister directly. She wrote: “Mr Bhagwant Man Ji, the recent observations on the Supreme Court ruling on stray animal management have sparked important conversations across the country.
Although public safety is very important, I sincerely hope that the interpretation and implementation of the ruling remains humane and balanced.
“Ravina urged the state to choose measures that protect people and animals. “Compassionate solutions such as sterilization, vaccination, proper shelters and organized rehabilitation can help protect citizens and animals alike,” she added.The actor also said that Punjab can be a role model. “I truly believe that with the support of the authorities, animal welfare organizations and experts, Punjab can set an example of dealing with this sensitive issue responsibly and with kindness,” she wrote.

Campaign to remove stray dogs in Punjab after Supreme Court order
As reported earlier, Bhagwant Mann said Punjab will implement the Supreme Court’s May 19 directions “in true letter and spirit”. Citing “increasing concern” over stray dog attacks in several parts of the state, he said children, the elderly and families should move freely in public places without fear.Mann said stray dogs would be removed from all public places with high population density.
He also said that the government will establish and maintain sufficient number of dog shelters where animals can get proper care.The prime minister said legally permitted measures, including euthanasia, would only apply in cases involving rabid, terminally ill or clearly dangerous and aggressive dogs that pose a threat to human life. He said these steps would follow the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and ABC rules.Sonu Sood had also reacted earlier, describing some of the drive-related videos as “extremely disturbing”. He said that dogs are loyal animals, and added that people in local areas often know which dogs are harmful.
