Barely two hours after seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs led by Raghav Chadha announced their merger with the BJP, Balkur Singh, father of slain Punjabi singer Musiwala, posted two lines on Facebook.

He provided no commentary, comment or context per se. The lines in Punjabi were poetry to his son from one of his last songs, “Scapegoat”: “Jo Raj Sabha hoeya, zimmvar dasso kaun? Hunn mainu loko oey gaddar dasso kaun?” “Tell me who is responsible for what happened with the Rajya Sabha?” People, tell me now, who is the traitor?
Below the lines, he gave the attribution: “Written by Sidhu Musiwala, April 2022.”
The song ‘“Scapegoat” was released on April 11, 2022 with music by Mxrci and lyrics written by Moosewala himself. It has more than 65 million views on YouTube as of April 24, 2026.

The “outside” argument.
The song was released in the wake of the AAP announcing its nominations for the Punjab Rajya Sabha – a list that drew widespread criticism because it included two non-Punjabis residing in Delhi. Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak from Chhattisgarh, along with locals including cricketer Harbhajan Singh and industrialists Ashok Kumar Mittal and Sanjeev Arora, were seen as having limited political roots in the state.
Moosewala, who was killed by Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang on May 29, 2022, as a result of misplaced contests, had contested the February 2022 Assembly elections on a Congress ticket from Mansa. He lost to AAP’s Dr Vijay Singla by a huge margin of 63,323 votes.
The song “Scapegoat” was among his creations that was directly political and thus received attention beyond his own interests Really big fan base.

Raghav Chadha’s switch wasn’t the first time his father had deployed the lines in a political context.
In 2023, Balkur Singh He posted a clip on Facebook and Instagram citing “scapegoat” after Sandeep Pathak – one of the RJD MPs who defected on Friday – made remarks suggesting that both Haryana and Punjab should get their due share of river water, a stance widely seen in Punjab as a concession in the sensitive Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal issue.
At that time, SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia also shared content using Moosewala’s songs to attack AAP over the SYL issue, and his ‘Scapegoat’ lines were widely circulated as a shorthand charge of treason against the party. AAP said the comments had been misinterpreted.
Six of the seven MPs who defected on Friday are from Punjab – the same state where the AAP scored a huge win in 2022 (92 out of 117 MLAs), sending Chadha, Pathak and others to Parliament in the first place. Chadha, who is ethnically Punjabi but a boy from Delhi, has repeatedly said that Punjab is “my soul” and not just a political talking point for him. His joining the BJP, which has never won power alone in Punjab, comes just 10 months before the next Vidhan Sabha elections.
“They are not mass leaders.”
CM Bhagwant Mann on Friday insisted that Chadha and the others were “Gaddar” or traitors of Punjab. He said they could not even win the village elections and were nominated because the party wanted to bring in diverse votes.
“There is no machine that can read minds. Tell me if there is… and if I can order one from Amazon!” Mann, the comedian-turned-politician, said this at a press conference in Chandigarh.
Kejriwal’s first reaction was a one-line post on X saying that the BJP has betrayed Punjabis.
Chadha said the AAP “no longer works for the country, but for personal gain”. He did not directly refer to the corruption allegations related to the Delhi Excise (Liquor Sales) Policy 2023 case in which Kejriwal and 22 others were recently released by a trial court.
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Waring said, “AAP has no ideology. This was normal. These MPs have no importance in Punjab. AAP should stay informed – 50 MLAs may join BJP next! Only MPs have left the party for now.”
