Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will address about 30 college students from across the country after presenting the Budget 2026-27 on Sunday, to create awareness among the country’s younger generation, according to a statement issued by the finance ministry.

(ANI)”As part of this initiative, college students will also watch the live presentation of the Union Budget from the Lok Sabha gallery, giving them an opportunity to witness the most important parliamentary proceedings of the year,” it said.

The students come from various academic disciplines including commerce, economics, medical education and vocational courses from different states of India, it said.

The students will visit the Ministry of Finance at Duty Building-1 and interact with senior officials to understand the functioning of the Ministry, the policy making process and the institution’s role in nation building, it said.

During the interaction, key priorities of the budget, its vision for India’s future and its implications for the youth will be discussed. Students will also share ideas, views and aspirations and give opinions about youth and race, the statement said.

“The initiative aims to provide exposure to promote greater awareness among students about finance, economics, governance and democratic processes, while encouraging informed, constructive participation of youth in India’s fiscal and parliamentary systems,” it said.

During budget preparation, various inputs have been sought from citizens including youth through various platforms, which will be reflected in the upcoming Union Budget 2026-27, it said.
