Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh stood his ground after a discussion in which he was the chief guest was allegedly interrupted by the Uttar Pradesh administration in Prayagraj. The Rajya Sabha MP was interacting with students from the city, where the discussion focused on exam paper leakage and the challenges faced by students in Prayagraj.

However, while a student was raising an issue, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Satyam Mishra, accompanied by DCP (City) Manish Kumar Chandelia, entered the hall at Circuit House in Prayagraj where the meeting was going on.
Sanjay Singh took to X to share a video of the incident, alleging that the BJP administration in UP did not allow him to discuss the paper leaks with students in a closed room.
“In Prayagraj, Ontario, the dictatorship has reached its peak – even behind closed doors, permission has been denied to discuss the future of millions of students; the administration has come to a halt to even talk of paper leaks. The Modi-Yogi double-engine government has completely failed and wants to crush the opposition,” Singh posted on X.

How the drama unfolded inside the hall
According to a video shared by Singh from the spot, Mishra and Chandelia along with other police officers approached the AAP MP during the event and pointed towards the exit, apparently asking him to come out for a conversation.
However, Sanjay Singh refused to leave the gathering, never left his chair and questioned the officer’s request in front of the crowd.
“Please tell me here what’s the matter. Why don’t you tell me here?” Singh said. Stating that the event is being held indoors, he added, “This is an internal programme. We are sitting inside a conference hall and having a discussion. Is this difficult even in Uttar Pradesh? What exactly is your responsibility here? Is there any law and order situation?”
Singh then targeted the ADM, saying: “People will laugh at your managerial quality.”

He also said that no prior permission was required to hold a discussion in the conference room.
“Permission required for public places, ADM owner. Show me the rule that requires permission to have a discussion in a conference room. If you want to talk about rules and laws, show me the law.”
The ADM vs Sanjay match lasted for 5 minutes
Soon after, Singh, still seated, turned to the students and asked them to continue the discussion. Meanwhile, Mishra started talking to other organizers of the forum and allegedly urged them not to discuss the exam paper leaks. On hearing this statement, Singh came back to confront Mishra and questioned whether discussing the paper leaks had become an anti-national activity.
Singh asked the official, “Are anti-national matters being discussed here? Examination papers are being leaked. Examinations through which you became an ADM, through which someone became an SSP, IG or DGP – is it a crime to discuss paper leaks now?”
He continued: “In a democratic system, and this is also within a closed room, I see for the first time that the administration is saying: Do not discuss paper leaks.”
Referring to the impact of paper leakage incidents on students, Singh said: “The lives of thousands of students have been ruined.”

He also questioned the officials’ authority to intervene, asking: “Adam Sahib, is this your personal property?” He warned that he would raise the matter before the Privileges Committee.
After the exchange, the officials left the scene without further confrontation. Singh then turned back to the audience, urged the students to continue the discussion, and the program resumed.
The UP administration has not yet given any reaction to Sanjay Singh’s video, till submitting this version.
Rahul Gandhi has been vocal about paper leaks and the CBSE OSM mess
Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday met Vedant Shrivastava and other Class XII students who were allegedly given incorrect question papers during their CBSE exams.
Gandhi also targeted Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, demanding his resignation over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy and CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) row. In response, Pradhan accused Gandhi of being “frustrated” and said he questioned the credibility of the institutions responsible for conducting the examinations, while stressing that the interests of students should not be negatively affected during this period.
