Haryana’s Chandigarh has returned fraudulent funds to victims at nearly five times the national recovery and coordination rate, officials said on Friday after reviewing the state’s fight against cybercrime.

Against a national average of 8 per cent, Haryana issued recovery orders in 38 per cent of the 14,731 cybercrime cases received till July 22, 2026, and released $Rs 2.51 lakh crore is being returned to the victims through the money recovery module developed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, according to an official statement.

Of the 9,437 requests for assistance received from other states through the Samanvaya portal, Haryana Police handled 9,156 cases – a 97 per cent response rate that underscores the proactive role played by Haryana in investigating cross-border cyber crimes.

Using the Sahyog portal, Haryana Police has removed 5,169 URLs of illegal content till 2025, a number that has almost tripled to 15,853 in less than seven months this year.
Cyber SP Mayank Gupta informed that 764 out of 897 applications received at the grievance redressal unit have been dealt with, while the remaining 133 applications are still within the prescribed window of 15 days, meaning there is no complaint pending after the stipulated time frame.
Regarding law enforcement against cybercrime hotspots, the review highlighted key actions in Nuh, the only area identified as a cybercrime hotspot in the state.
Between January 2025 and July 22, police registered 491 FIRs, arrested 949 cybercriminals, and seized 772 mobile phones and 1,481 SIM cards.
It added that the Mobile Blocking Unit proactively blocked 55,323 mobile phone numbers and 25,202 IMEI numbers linked in Noah during the same period using tower repositories and linking IMEI and location data from the Pratibimb portal.
