The police found 31 kilograms of alprazolam tablets during the search, which is equivalent to an estimated three lakh tablets and falls under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act’s definition of commercial quantity.

An FIR was registered on January 29 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The car was registered in Mohit Gupta’s name during the investigation, and he was subsequently taken into custody at the other accused’s request.

Sharma admitted to the police during questioning that, at Gupta’s request, he used to pick up alprazolam tablets from Himachal Pradesh from Shamim and his accomplice Randeep and deliver them to a nearby pharmacy in Bulandshahr.

Shamim claimed that he and his partner operated an illicit manufacturing facility in Parwanu, Himachal Pradesh, where the tablets were produced and delivered to distributors in Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

According to police, Gupta, who purportedly owns a medical practice in Bulandshahr, told investigators that he obtained illicit tablets via his business and supplied them to pharmacies in Agra and Bulandshahr.
