Hours before arriving in Delhi and committing the crime, Meena had reportedly raped another woman in Alwar in Rajasthan. The accused’s husband was known to Meena as the two were playing Ludo online together.
What happened?
On Wednesday evening (April 22), a former domestic helper, who was angry about being laid off from her job for financial misconduct, entered the fourth-floor apartment in Delhi’s Kailash Hills using a spare key that he knew the owners kept outside. The victim’s parents had gone to the gym, a habit of which Mina was aware.
CCTV footage revealed that Mina was seen in the area around 6:30 a.m. and left around 7:15 a.m., spending about 40 minutes inside. He entered the apartment at 6:39 a.m.
Mina found the victim studying in her room, according to police reports, and demanded money. When she refused and tried to call her father, he “squeezed her throat, then used a charging cord to strangle her, then attacked her with a water bottle and a lamp over her head.”

He then raped her while she was unconscious but alive and then dragged her body down the stairs in an attempt to reach the fingerprint-protected safe – which he knew could only be opened by a family member.
When he was unable to open the safe with the victim’s fingerprints, he broke the safe using a heavy object. Meena reportedly eloped with $2 lakh in cash and $Jewelry worth 10 million stuffed into a black backpack. Before leaving at 7:15 a.m., he changed his blood-stained clothes and shoes.
When he was arrested and produced in Saket court, Meena said he did it for money. “Galti Hojay. Main paise ki liye kya. Fingerprint chahiye tha locker kholne ke liye [Made a mistake. I did it for money. I needed fingerprint to open the locker]”.
The autopsy report reveals a broken neck and a broken nose
The autopsy report revealed multiple injuries to her arms, hands, legs, and face, including a broken nose, and severe damage to her neck, including a fractured thyroid cartilage.
It also revealed abrasions and bruises on the victim’s arms, indicating that she was trying to fight the attacker. “The report revealed abrasions and bruises on the arms of the victims, indicating that they tried to fight off the attacker,” said Dr Sudhir Gupta, Head of Forensic Medicine Department, AIIMS-Delhi.
