Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that to make health services in the capital more “robust, transparent and accountable”, more than 40 officials, medical, para-medical and administrative staff working under the Central Procurement Agency (CPA) working under the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Health Ministry have been transferred.

The Prime Minister said that providing better medical facilities to the people of Delhi is the “commitment of our government” and “any kind of negligence or indiscipline will not be tolerated” in this regard.

The Chief Minister informed that 10 doctors, including Bureau Chief Dr Vinod Kumar Ranga, have been transferred to the CPA. “In addition, 19 employees have been transferred to enhance para-medical services. This includes pharmacists, junior medical laboratory technicians, laboratory attendants, drivers, and others.”

According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, to increase efficiency in administrative works, 10 employees have also been transferred from the levels of Divisional Officer, Senior Assistant and Junior Assistant.

“During the human resources review, the status of officers and employees working in the CPA was also assessed. Besides, information was also collected on those employees who are on the CPA payroll but working in other offices, so that the most effective use of available resources can be ensured. Apart from this, other employees were also removed from the CPA.”

CPA role and new publications

The Prime Minister informed that the CPA is an important hub of the health system of the Delhi government, through which the work of procurement and supply of medicines, medical equipment and other essential health items is carried out.

“To make this system more efficient, experienced officials and staff have been attached from various hospitals and departments. Under this process, 12 medical officers from various hospitals and health institutions have been appointed to the CPA. Among them are a senior medical officer, a medical officer, and CMO level officials. Their deployment will strengthen procurement, warehousing, supply and administrative work.”

To expedite departmental works, additional responsibilities have also been assigned to various officers, the Chief Minister said.

“The responsibility of running Project Branch, Welfare Branch, Storage and Procurement Branch, Computer Cell, Mobile Health Scheme, PGMS, RTI, Child Rights, Health Mela, Hospital Coordination and other important units has been handed over to the officials concerned. Apart from this, necessary administrative arrangements have also been made to make the works related to Storage and Procurement Branch and CPA more effective,” the statement said.

Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government’s goal is to provide the necessary human resources to every unit in the health department and strengthen institutional capacity.

“The government is committed to ensuring that the system of procurement and supply of medicines and medical materials is fully strengthened and provides better and time-bound health services to the people of Delhi,” he added.
