Addressing the 11th meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Revanth Reddy said that these six cities are the real engines of the economy; However, it has lagged behind the world’s greatest cities.

“These six cities are home to about 10% of India’s population and generate nearly a quarter of its GDP. We urge a national task force, mandated to act quickly, to develop all six cities to meet global standards, not as an expenditure, but as an investment in assets that generate revenues, employment and prestige that a developed India enjoys,” he said.

The Prime Minister sought the creation of a dedicated infrastructure fund $6 lakh crore, with $Rs 1 lakh crore was allocated to each city, arguing that strengthening urban growth centers would contribute significantly to India’s economic expansion.

He also sought central support for several key projects, including the Regional Ring Road, Hyderabad Railway Phase II expansion, Musi River rejuvenation, future Bharat City development, approvals for Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, semiconductor manufacturing projects and setting up of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Hyderabad.

Reddy said Telangana was actively attracting globally reputed educational institutions and cited the proposed overseas campus of the University of London in Hyderabad as a major step in this direction.

While presenting the development model of Telangana, Revanth Reddy emphasized that quality education and healthcare are the strongest foundations of national progress and Vixit Bharat Vision 2047 can only be achieved by ensuring access to quality educational and medical services to every citizen.

He referred to the recent socio-economic and caste survey conducted by Telangana, noting that the practice revealed deprivation of education, not wealth or land ownership, as the main reason behind social backwardness. He said the results underscore the need for everyone to have access to quality education.

Emphasizing the importance of skill development in the era of artificial intelligence, Reddy said Telangana is investing heavily in infrastructure projects such as regional ring road, regional railways and green energy initiatives to generate large-scale employment opportunities.

He highlighted the establishment of the Young India Skills University, which is supported by leading industrialists, including Anand Mahindra. Telangana has also partnered with the Tata Group to modernize Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state, with an investment of $2100 Crores.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said Andhra Pradesh seeks to transform itself into a prosperous, inclusive and globally competitive economy through a human capital-driven development model.

He said his government is focused on eradicating poverty, creating large-scale employment opportunities, enhancing skills, ensuring water and energy security, and promoting growth through agritech, logistics and deep technology sectors.

Highlighting the governance reforms, the Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh has adopted a technology-driven governance model built on Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS), AI-powered analytics, predictive governance tools, and real-time monitoring systems.

“These initiatives improve administrative efficiency, enable evidence-based policy making and enhance public service delivery,” he said.

He said countries should prioritize infrastructure development, policy stability and speed up approvals rather than rely on unsustainable incentive-based competition to attract investments.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring everyone has access to seven basic necessities – housing, sanitation, drinking water, clean cooking fuel, electricity, digital connectivity and direct benefit transfers.

Reiterating Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to cooperative federalism, Naidu said the state will continue to work closely with the Union government and NITI Aayog to achieve the common goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
