Cheers and whistles broke out among the family members of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay as early trends showed his party leading in 110 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The party emerged as the single largest force, pushing the AIADMK-BJP alliance and the DMK-Congress alliance to second and third positions, respectively.

The celebrations were held at the family home as early numbers indicated a strong debut for the actor-turned-politician in Tamil Nadu.
TVK’s performance in Tamil Nadu
As of 1 pm, trends showed Vijay’s TVK leading with 115 seats, AIADMK+ with 59 seats and DMK+ with 48 seats.
Party workers also gathered outside the headquarters in Chennai on Monday. Large crowds were seen waving flags and distributing sweets as they celebrated the ceremony.
Footage from outside the office showed a large crowd of supporters dancing and raising slogans as the party maintained its lead during the vote counting.
Tamil Nadu has a long record of film personalities transitioning into politics. If the numbers remain steady or improve, Vijay could become the third such figure to shape state politics after M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, both of whom left a strong imprint on state politics.
His entry as the face of TVK turned the election into a three-way contest. Politics in the state usually revolves around alliances led by the DMK and AIADMK.
What TVK said about government formation in Tamil Nadu
TVK national spokesperson Felix Gerald said on Monday that the party is confident of forming the government in Tamil Nadu with a clear majority as early trends showed the party “expanding significantly”.
In a conversation with PTI Videos, Gerald said the result was on expected lines. He added that voters supported TVK because they were “tired” of the established parties.
