The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday said it has lodged a formal complaint with the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of Delhi Police in connection with a series of coordinated and sophisticated cyber attacks targeting the post-results services portal.

CBSE said the attackers' apparent goal was to destabilize the platform, deny access to legitimate users, and attempt to extract information unauthorized by actors (X/cbseindia29).
CBSE said the attackers’ apparent goal was to destabilize the platform, deny access to legitimate users, and attempt to extract information unauthorized by actors (X/cbseindia29).

The portal, which was launched on June 2 for Class 12 students seeking to check marks and re-evaluate assessed answer scripts based on the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, “has been subjected to repeated and coordinated cyber-attacks over the past three days,” CBSE said in a statement.

The council said the attacks included large amounts of malicious traffic originating from multiple IP addresses inside and outside the country, but stressed that no data breach or unauthorized access was detected.

“The apparent aim of the attackers appears to be to destabilize the platform, deny access to legitimate users, and attempt to extract information unauthorized by elements hostile to the national interest,” CBSE said in a statement.

The board relaunched the reassessment portal on Tuesday and spoke of attempts by “malicious actors” to cripple the platform shortly after it went live. In a post on

Rolling out the portal has been difficult. The launch was originally scheduled for May 29, but was postponed to June 1, missing the deadline as well, and finally launched at around 4:30 a.m. on June 2.

As of June 4, a total of 70,433 successful applications have been received through CBSE’s post-result grievance redressal process, including 7,314 applications for mark verification and 63,119 applications for re-evaluation.

The Board of Directors said that any disruption to the portal’s work would negatively affect a large number of stakeholders, “cause great public inconvenience, affect public order and create a state of dissatisfaction among students against the Board of Directors.”

The attacks were successfully mitigated through continuous 24/7 monitoring and response mechanisms, with support from cybersecurity teams at IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, Digital India Corporation, Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (I4C), CERT-In, and other central government agencies, the board said.
