The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday announced the schedule for the second examination of Class 10, which will begin on May 15 with the Mathematics (Main and Standard) paper and end on May 21 with the Social Sciences test, according to the date sheet.

“Details of the number of students who will appear for these exams will be announced on Friday. The admit cards for the Class 10 second board exams will be uploaded on the official website soon,” a CBSE official said.
As per the two-board examination policy of CBSE, only students who have appeared in the first main examination are eligible to appear for the second examination to improve their performance in any of the three subjects outside Science, Mathematics, Social Science and Languages.
The results of the main board exams were announced on April 15. The Board recorded a marginal improvement of 0.04 percentage points in the overall performance of Grade 10, with 93.70% of students passing this year compared to 93.66% in 2025. This year, the pass rate for girls was 94.99% (95.00% in 2025), while boys scored 92.69% (92.63% in 2025). 2025). But the performance of transgender candidates fell to 87.50% this year compared to 95% last year.
Class 10 students who appeared in the 2026 board exams are among the first batch to be assessed under CBSE’s new two-board examination system for Class 10, which is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) that aims to reduce the “high-stakes” nature of board exams. The Class 10 Main Board Examination in 2026 was conducted between February 17 and March 11. The final results will be announced after the second board exams are conducted, and grades will be calculated by combining the results of the main and second board exams.
