Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai will on Friday end the growing suspense over his next political course following speculations about his resignation from the party.

Kuppusamy Annamalai, a former IPS official, who rose to fame in politics after joining the BJP, is called ‘Singham’ by his supporters.

He joined the BJP in 2020 and became its state president the following year, succeeding L Murugan, who was elevated to the post of union minister.

He will explain his recent visit to New Delhi to meet senior party leaders and clear up speculations about his resignation from the saffron party to launch his own party, during a social media interaction on Friday.

“Tomorrow at 12 noon, I am very much looking forward to interacting with all of you on social media to share my thoughts and have an open, heart-to-heart conversation,” Annamalai said on ‘X’ on Thursday, posting links to his interaction on social media.

Coinciding with his visit to Delhi, his supporters put up posters at prominent locations in Chennai and Coimbatore praising Singham and calling him a “thalaivar” (leader) and a “brave mind”. Some of his supporters supported a plan to launch a new movement.
