Austrian Chancellor Christian Stoker will make his first visit to India next week to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a wide range of fields.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday that Stocker, who will be in the country from April 14 to 17, will be accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer and senior officials and business leaders. This will also be his first official visit to Asia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Stoker will hold discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation in a range of areas and will exchange views on regional and global issues, including cooperation in multilateral forums, the ministry said.

Stoker will also meet President Draupadi Murmu and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

India and Austria enjoy “warm, friendly and multifaceted” relations rooted in shared democratic values, and Modi’s visit to Austria in July 2024 has significantly strengthened relations between the two countries. The ministry said that Stoker’s visit reflects the shared commitment of both sides to deepening and expanding their partnership in new areas of common interest.
