PRO Defense Nagaland told HT that the blast occurred at around 2.30 pm, 500 meters from the main gate of Assam Rifles Training Center (ARTC) Shukhvi.

The injured were transferred to the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research in Dimapur to receive medical care.

Nagaland Director General of Police Robin Sharma said that as per initial assessment, the suspected IED was kept in an autorickshaw parked on the roadside.

The state police and security forces launched a search operation in the area, and investigations are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Neiphiu Rio condemned the incident. “The bomb explosion in Chomukdima is a cowardly act that has no place in our society. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. Those responsible will be identified and brought to justice. We will not allow such actions to threaten the peace and security of our people,” Ryu posted on X.

This is the second attack on Assam Rifles personnel in the northeast within a week. On July 6, two Assam Rifles personnel were killed in an ambush by unidentified militants in Ukhrul district of Manipur.
