Amid a series of incendiary posts denouncing previous governments and threatening Iran, a recurring fetish for Prime Minister Narendra Modi emerged on US President Donald Trump’s Truth Social account on Monday (local time).

US President Donald Trump shared a social media post by US envoy to India Sergio Gore highlighting his leader’s recent praise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“President Trump called me tonight. He had a clear message: I love Prime Minister Modi. We have never been closer to India. I am a very big fan of Prime Minister Modi…,” Gore, who was accompanying US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on his current visit to India, wrote in a post on X.
Trump reposted the message on his official Truth Social account on Monday evening with a video clip from America’s 250th anniversary celebrations at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The message was actually delivered by Trump on Sunday during a phone call with Gaur, with the latter putting on the megaphone and presenting it to the world during America’s 250th anniversary celebrations at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Trump said on Sunday evening that India can count on me 100 percent, calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “great” friend.
The event, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, was graced by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio along with Gaur.
The highlight of the event was AR Rahman’s performance.
“I just want to say hello to everyone. I love the Prime Minister, (Narendra) Modi is great. He’s my friend, and I just want to say good evening to everyone,” Trump said in the phone conversation with Gore.
Recent talks between Trump and Modi
Trump earlier this month extended his greetings to Prime Minister Modi after the decisive victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2026 state assembly elections.
Just last month, President Trump in their phone call to Prime Minister Modi expressed his admiration for how lucky India was to have him as its leader. White House spokesman Khush Desai said the President congratulates Prime Minister Modi on this recent historic and decisive electoral victory.
Trump’s greetings came after a lengthy phone call between the two leaders in April, focusing on the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz.
Prime Minister Modi said after the call: “I received a call from my friend President Donald Trump. We reviewed the significant progress achieved in our bilateral cooperation in various sectors. We are committed to further strengthening our comprehensive global strategic partnership in all areas. We also discussed the situation in West Asia and stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.”
The US wish for India on Republic Day also included a greeting from President Donald Trump for what he described as the “historic bond” between the two countries, the oldest democracies in the world.
“On behalf of the people of the United States, I extend my sincere congratulations to the government and people of India as you celebrate the 77th Republic Day,” Donald Trump said in his greetings to India on January 26. “The United States and India share a historical bond as the world’s oldest and largest democracies.”
His remarks were shared by the US Embassy in India in a post on X.
