Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday paid tributes to Saint Ravidas on his birth anniversary and urged people to imbibe the saint’s ideals to contribute to building a harmonious and prosperous India.

He said that the message of Saint Rabidas is for social service and human welfare and not for narrow political or electoral interests. Focusing on his education can significantly improve the lives of the poor, exploited and downtrodden, he added.

Sant Ravidas, a medieval poet-saint and social reformer, is revered by followers across the country, including a large number in the Dalit community.

Through his sermons and sermons, he spoke against caste-based discrimination. He was born in Sir Govardhanpur village near Varanasi.
