Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Saturday accused Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) international president Alok Kumar of trying to protect those allegedly involved in irregularities linked to donations and construction at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

At a press conference at the AAP headquarters in Delhi, Sanjay Singh reacted sharply to a letter said to have been written by Alok Kumar to the DSP investigating the alleged ‘chanda chauri’ (offer theft) case in Ram Mandir. Singh alleged that the letter selectively targeted opposition leaders while deliberately omitting the names of several BJP, RSS and VHP functionaries who had publicly raised concerns over alleged thefts, corruption and financial irregularities linked to the temple trust.
“Alok Kumar’s message is political. He remembered the names of Arvind Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh and Ram Gopal Yadav, but conveniently forgot the names of people from the BJP, RSS and VHP who themselves alleged that there was theft and corruption within the temple system,” Singh alleged.
The AAP MP claimed that Nripendra Mishra, former principal secretary to the Prime Minister, who oversaw the temple construction work, had publicly stated in his interviews that “not just theft but theft” had taken place in connection with the temple project. Sanjay Singh questioned why Mishra’s name was not included in the letter seeking the investigation.
Sanjay Singh says he is ready to join the investigation
Singh said he welcomed the investigation and was ready to cooperate fully. He claimed that he would appear before investigators along with people who had publicly alleged the theft of donated silver, ornaments, Ram Charit Manas manuscripts and other religious offerings.
“I am ready to join the investigation. I will bring with me those who claimed the disappearance of silver bricks, Lord Ram’s padukas, necklaces and even copies of Ram Charit Manas embossed in gold,” he said.
The AAP leader claimed that he first raised the issue of land procurement irregularities in Ayodhya in 2021, when he filed a written complaint at Ayodhya Kotwali police station over alleged inflated land deals related to the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust.
According to Singh, only one such plot of land has been purchased $It is alleged that Rs 2 crore was sold back to the trust within minutes $18.5 Crores. These transactions allegedly involved people associated with the trust and BJP leaders.
Singh also claimed that BJP leader and former media officer Dr Rajneesh Singh had also written letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June requesting an ED and RBI probe into alleged irregularities in fundraising, accounting and construction expenditure related to the temple project.
He claimed that despite repeated public complaints and statements, attempts are now being made to suppress the matter through selective investigations and political targeting.
The AAP MP also announced that he would write to the investigating officer seeking questioning of former Union Home Minister Ganesh Kumar, who had previously served as the Center’s representative in the Ram Mandir Trust.
Singh claimed that he has already submitted 13 documents to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter and said more documents will be released soon. “The country deserves to know the value of the land $2 Crore Purchased for $18.5 crore and why are the officials still out of jail.”
