The Aam Aadmi Party, which is trying to find a foothold in the bipolar politics of Madhya Pradesh dominated by the BJP and the Congress, said on Tuesday that it will fight the 2028 Assembly elections alone without forming any alliance.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party is gearing up to contest all the Assembly seats, AAP State Organizing Officer Jai Bhagwan Apkar told reporters in Indore.

He added, “We will run in the elections with full force and will not form an electoral alliance with any party.”

Abkar said the morale of AAP workers was affected during the 2023 Assembly elections due to the imprisonment of senior leaders in alleged false cases. He added, “Party workers are being reorganized in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections.”

Another AAP official said the party fielded candidates for 60 seats in the recent Assembly elections. However, contestants’ deposits in most seats were confiscated.

Politics in Madhya Pradesh has traditionally been bipolar, with either the BJP or the Congress in power.

Meanwhile, Abkar said the AAP will also contest all the seats in next year’s municipal elections, which will be held before the assembly elections.

Upkar had previously represented Delhi’s Bawana constituency.

The AAP leader said he could comment on the future of the Janata Party only after the digital platform founded by Abhijit Debki becomes active on the ground.
