The sound was allegedly heard in the Badar forest belt of Kishtwar district, where locals claimed to have seen thick smoke rising from the forest. Following the incident, reports indicated that a plane had crashed at the site, speculation that was later refuted by the Indian Army.

“There are some media outlets and SM companies claiming that an IAF aircraft crashed near Kishtwar. This report is false,” an Indian Air Force spokesperson said in a statement.

The spokesman added: “All media outlets are requested to verify the accuracy of information from official sources before publishing or transmitting it.”
