The accused, identified as Rajkumar, was taken into custody by the Akhipora police following information about alleged conversion activities at Tanwar Colony.

According to police, members of the group arrived at a house in the area after receiving information about a prayer meeting, where alleged conversion activity was taking place.

They allegedly entered the building, took out the man and assaulted him.

Station house officer Mahesh Tiwari said a team rushed to the spot after receiving information and the situation was under control. The accused was detained and arrested on charges of insulting religious feelings.

Police said that between 15 and 20 people fled during the incident.

They added that a video of the alleged assault had also emerged and was being examined as part of the investigation.

Police said religious literature and related materials were found at the scene, and mobile phones were being examined for further evidence.

“Necessary legal measures have been taken and the matter is under investigation. We are also looking into the role of those involved in the attack,” Tiwari said.

He added that further investigations are underway.
