A heated battle in Bengal, and the return of the Congress-led United Democratic Front in Kerala: Deciphering the results of opinion polls in 4 states

The second and final phase of voting for the West Bengal Assembly elections ended on Wednesday. After the polls closed, exit poll estimates were released in West Bengal, along with Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam.

According to several opinion polls, the BJP is likely to sweep Assam. In Tamil Nadu, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Indian National Congress (INC) alliance is expected to advance. In Kerala, forecasts favor the Congress-led United Democratic Front. For West Bengal, expectations remain divided.

The counting of votes for all these states, along with Puducherry, is scheduled to take place on May 4 (Saturday).

West Bengal exit poll 2026:

The People’s Pulse Party predicted victory for the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Bengal, giving the ruling party 177 seats against 187 seats. The BJP is expected to win between 95 and 110 seats, according to the poll.

However, Matrez and P Mark pointed out the BJP’s advantage in Bengal. The Matrez gave the BJP 146-161 seats and the TMC 125-140 seats. P-Marq estimated 150-175 seats for the BJP and 118-138 seats for the TMC.

According to a poll conducted by Poll Diary, the BJP is expected to lead in West Bengal with 142-171 seats. The TMC+ alliance is expected to win 99-127 seats. The Left Front+ is expected to get 2-3 seats, while the Congress may get 3-5 seats.

According to JVC’s exit poll, the contest is expected to be close. The TMC+ is expected to win 131-152 seats in West Bengal, while the BJP may get 138-159 seats.

Assam exit poll 2026:

Most opinion polls expected the BJP to win in Assam. An opinion poll conducted by the People’s Pulse Center when they left the polls showed that the National Democratic Alliance might win between 68 to 72 seats, while the Iraqi National Congress+ alliance might get between 22 and 26 seats.

The Matrez exit poll predicted 85 to 95 seats for the NDA, while the INC+ coalition was estimated to get 25 to 32 seats.

An Axis My India exit poll indicated that the NDA may get between 88 and 100 seats in Assam, while the INC+ alliance may get between 24 and 36 seats.

According to a poll conducted by Poll Diary, the NDA is expected to ensure a clear lead in Assam by bagging 86-101 seats. The INC+ coalition is expected to win 15-26 seats. The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) may get 2-5 seats.

According to the P-Marq poll, the NDA is expected to win 82 to 94 seats in Assam, while the INC+ may get 30 to 40 seats.

According to the JVC voter exit poll, the NDA is expected to win 88-101 seats, while the INC+ may get 23-33 seats.

Kerala exit poll 2026:

In Kerala, most opinion polls expected the return of the Congress-led United Democratic Front.

The People’s Pulse poll expected the Left Democratic Front to obtain between 55 to 65 seats, while the United Democratic Front was expected to obtain between 75 to 85 seats.

The Matrez exit poll gave the LDF 60 to 65 seats. The United Democratic Front may win 70 to 75 seats, while the NDA is expected to get three to five seats.

The Access My India poll indicated that the LDF may win between 49 and 62 seats in Kerala, while the United Democratic Front may win between 78 and 90 seats. The National Democratic Rally is expected to obtain zero to three seats, according to the poll.

According to the B-Mark poll, the LDF is expected to win between 60 and 65 seats in Kerala, while the United Democratic Front may get between 70 and 75 seats. The NDA is expected to get 3-5 seats, while the others are expected to get 0 seats.

According to the JVC voter poll, the LDF is expected to win 52-61 seats, while the UDF may get 72-84 seats. The National Democratic Rally is expected to obtain 3-7 seats, while the number of other seats is estimated at 0 seats.

Tamil Nadu exit poll 2026:

The People’s Pulse exit poll forecasts the DMK-INC+ alliance to get 125 to 145 seats in Tamil Nadu. The NDA is expected to win between 65 and 80 seats, while TVK may get between 18 and 24 seats.

The exit poll by Matrez predicted that the DMK-INC+ alliance would get 122 to 132 seats. The NDA may get 87 to 100 seats, while TVK is expected to win 10 to 12 seats.

According to the P-Marq poll, the DMK-INC+ is expected to win 125-145 seats in Tamil Nadu, while the NDA may get 65-85 seats. TVK is expected to get 16-26 seats, while other channels are expected to get 1-6 seats.

Axis My India exit poll predicts a huge debut for Vijay’s TVK channel. The DMK-INC+ is expected to win 92-110 seats in Tamil Nadu, while the NDA may get 22-32 seats. TVK is expected to get 98-120 seats, while the others have not been given separate forecasts.

However, the JVC exit poll gave the NDA a clear advantage. According to the poll, the DMK-INC+ is expected to win 75-95 seats, while the NDA may get 128-147 seats. TVK is expected to get 8-15 seats, while others are estimated at 0 seats.
