Two people died after the car they were traveling in veered off the road, fell into a deep ravine and caught fire in Bharwin area of ​​Una district of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, police officials said.

The accident occurred around 3.30 pm on the Chintpurni section of the Bharwin-Hoshiarpur road, a stretch known for its sharp turns and steep inclines.

An alleged video of the incident, said to be CCTV footage posted on social media, shows the car losing control at a bend and falling straight into the ravine.

The police said in a statement, “Two people who were riding in the car died in this accident. According to preliminary information, one of them was expelled from the car, while the other remained trapped inside and suffered severe burns due to the fire.”

Immediately upon receiving the report, a police force went to the scene.

With the help of the fire department, the fire was brought under control. Police officials said that the bodies of the two deceased persons have been seized and sent to forensic medicine.

“Efforts are currently underway to contact the families of the deceased. The causes of the accident are being investigated and the police are taking necessary legal measures,” Una Police said.
