Chennai, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami claimed that Tamil Nadu was recording an economic growth of 11.19 per cent due to industrial projects signed during the previous regime.

Palaniswami, Leader of the Opposition, criticized the DMK government, citing comments made by Prime Minister MK Stalin and signed by Tamil Nadu. $10.62 lakh crore investments have been made and 77 per cent of these projects have been completed.
“If that were the case, today 25,000 jobs would have been created. What the Prime Minister is saying is a blatant lie,” Palaniswami said while addressing a public meeting in neighboring Thiruvallur late on Saturday.
Appealing to the gathering to vote for the AIADMK and its alliance partners in the upcoming Assembly elections, he said in 2019, the AIADMK government conducted a global investors meeting during which $Investment commitments worth Rs 3.05 lakh crore were obtained through signing of 304 MoUs with various companies. He claimed that “nearly 10,000 jobs were created in that time.”
Palaniswami asserted that the industrial projects set up during the AIADMK regime after signing of the MoUs came into effect in the DMK rule and that is why the state recorded a growth of 11.19 per cent and not as claimed by CM Stalin.
“Tamil Nadu registering 11.19 per cent growth is due to those industrial projects that were signed during the AIADMK regime. He is claiming that the government achieved double-digit growth because of this. It is a blatant lie,” Palaniswami said.
Stalin, in various meetings, highlighted that Tamil Nadu registered double-digit growth due to various initiatives taken by his government.
Believing that 11 medical colleges were introduced in one year during the AIADMK regime, Palaniswami asked Stalin if they had managed to bring a single medical college to Tamil Nadu.
