Salim Khan married Helen when he was already married to Salma Khan (Sushila Charak) and they had four children, Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, and Alvira Khan. For this reason, it has created a huge buzz in the industry.
Today though, the whole family is very close. While Helen has a close relationship with Salma, she has great respect from all of Salim Khan’s children, who treat her like a mother.
In a previous interview, Helen revealed that when she initially started dating the veteran screenwriter, she was hiding from his first wife. Helen and Salim Khan first met in 1963 on the sets of the film Kabuli Khan, where Helen played the lead role and Salim appeared as the villain.
At that time, she didn’t pay much attention to him. It was only years later, in 1966, while watching the film “Teesri Manzil,” that she noticed him.In a candid chat with Arbaaz Khan on The Invincibles, Helen spoke about the early stage of their relationship and shared how she would avoid being seen by Salim’s first wife, Salma, out of respect. “At first, what I would do, you know, when I would pass the bandstand, and I would sometimes recognize my mother,” she recalled. She spoke warmly about Salma, acknowledging the emotional difficulty of the situation and emphasizing that she never wanted to upset the family. “He (Saleem) gave me a role in a film. We became friends, and Mami was very nice. It must have been difficult for your mother, she must have been through a lot at that time,” she said.
