Arshad Warsi celebrated his 58th birthday on Sunday, April 19. The actor has been in the industry for decades and is known for films like ‘Munnabhai’ series, ‘Golmaal’, ‘Jolly LLB’ and many more.
Arshad has largely kept his personal life out of the limelight. He has been married to Maria Goretti for 27 years and has two children, Zeke Warsi and Zane Zoe Warsi. He had revealed in a previous interview that his son Zeke and daughter Zain are interested in cinema. In one of the earlier interviews with Times Of India, Arshad had made it clear that he does not believe in pushing his children into the film industry. Instead, it encourages them to explore their own interests and find their individual paths. His 21-year-old son Zeke is starting to gain experience behind the camera, helping filmmakers like Siddharth Anand and Rajkumar Hirani. His 18-year-old daughter Zane Zoe is still pursuing her education but shares a keen interest in cinema.“Yes, both my son and daughter want to act. My son is currently helping Siddharth Anand and he has helped Raju Hirani. Of course, I am afraid – it is a tough job today. Acting is not an easy profession anymore because the success rate is very low. Out of 150 crores, a handful become actors,” he admitted.Despite the belief that industry connections can ensure success, Arshad strongly believes otherwise. He stressed that individual effort and luck remain the most important deciding factors.
“No one can help anyone here – you have to make your own way. I can’t make a call to a director and ask them to invest hundreds of crores in my children. Koi mere bete pe satta kyun lagayega (Why would anyone bet on my child)? Even casually calling a film director to meet my children would mean expecting them to take them on in their project, which I won’t do.”
Why would anyone do that? Why would filmmakers bet on my kids if I asked them to? Why should I recommend my children to anyone?” The actor shared.Recently, in a conversation with Raj Chamani, Arshad spoke about the unpredictable nature of the industry and the pressures his children may face. He pointed out that talent alone is not always enough, as luck plays an important role, which is what concerns him as a parent. He also addressed the expectations often placed on child stars, noting that his own journey, built from the ground up, creates a different kind of pressure on his children. Comparing it to the expectations faced by star kids like Shah Rukh Khan and
Hrithik Roshan
“Child stars like Shah Rukh Khan or Hrithik Roshan have a different kind of pressure, they have to be bigger. My kids don’t have that. They just need to be good actors,” he said.
