India post 170 against Australia

On the field, India put up a competitive total of 170/4 after captain Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front with a powerful knock. After winning the toss, Harmanpreet elected to bat first on a batting-friendly surface, as India needed a win to keep their semi-final hopes alive after South Africa’s win over Bangladesh earlier in the day.Openers Smriti Mandhana (38) and Shafali Verma (34) gave India a flying start, taking full advantage of the Powerplay with powerful hitting and quick runs between the wickets.

Harmanpreet then provided the final touch, smashing three successive sixes in the final over before being dismissed off the penultimate ball. The skipper scored 56 runs off just 27 deliveries, capping off her innings with six boundaries and three sixes. The match holds huge significance for India’s Women’s T20 World Cup campaign, with victory over Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten Aussies ensuring a place in the semi-finals.
