Comedian Vir Das recently took to social media to talk about a disturbing experience he allegedly had with food and grocery delivery platform Zepto. The actor claimed that he was given a fake Apple Watch despite paying nearly Rs 50,000 for the product, and claimed that his concerns were initially met with little support from customer service.Veer, who expressed his frustration online, explained that the watch was urgently ordered for the shoot, making the situation even more uncomfortable. He posted pictures of the product he received, questioned its authenticity, and accused the platform of selling what appeared to be a fake device.“Okay. Am I wrong, do all Apple watches look like this or is @ZeptoNow @zeptocares suspicious with the Chinese copies? By the way, the customer’s hardware representative said on the phone that there was nothing they could do.
Complete scam. We needed a quick one to shoot. They cost us 50 grand.”
His post quickly gained attention, with many social media users tagging Zepto and demanding an explanation from the company. In response to the mounting criticism, Zepto issued a statement saying the matter was being looked into and that a reverse capture had already been arranged as part of the investigation process. “We take these concerns seriously and have already scheduled a reverse pickup of the product, which is our standard process in such cases.
This will help us investigate the issue with our brand partners. For high value products, users receive a one-time password (OTP) at the time of delivery.
The OTP should be shared only after verifying that the packaging is sealed and in good condition.”The company also assured customers that the case is under review. They added: “We are currently looking into this case and will take appropriate action based on our findings.”On the professional front, Vir Das is gearing up for ‘Happy Patel’, which marks his directorial debut.
