Meadows died on February 25. Boat captain Rick Shelford announced his death on Monday, March 2, on Facebook. Shelford described Meadows’ death as “the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea.”
“We have lost our brother Todd Meadows,” Shelford wrote. “Todd was the newest member of our crew, and he quickly became part of the family. His love of fishing and strong work ethic earned him everyone’s immediate respect. His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laugh as he walked up the wheelhouse stairs or above the deck is something we will always carry with us.”
The post continued: “Todd’s love for his children, his family, and his life was evident in everything he did. He worked hard, loved deeply, and brought joy to those around him.” “Right now, our hearts are broken in a way that words cannot fully express.”
A fundraiser has been set up in Meadows’ name. The Go Fund Me page states that Meadows died while “crawling on Alaskan waters.”
Captain Shelford asked the audience to “lift up Todd’s children and family in prayer” and “keep them in your thoughts as they face the days ahead without him.”
Meadows had three sons.
A Discovery Channel spokesperson confirmed the sad news to Hollywood Reporter.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of Todd Meadows,” the spokesperson said in a statement shared with . THR. “This is a devastating loss, and our thoughts are with his loved ones, teammates and the entire fishing community during this extremely difficult time.”
“Todd will forever be a part of this boat, this crew, and this brotherhood,” Shelford’s social media tribute ends. “Although we lost him too soon, his legacy will live on through his children and in every memory we have of him. Rest easy, brother, until we meet again.”
